Sally is an experienced psychotherapist with qualifications in CBT (MSc) and in Psychiatry (PGDip). She has clinical experience across the range of mental health problems from mild anxiety/depression through to working with people with personality disorders and severe trauma. Her work as an academic is complementary to her practise: she has published books on shame, gender/sexual identity, race/ethnicity and social class. This research is concerned with how cultural factors affect emotion and identity. Sally works by helping clients with their beliefs about themselves, their unhelpful practises or habits, and helps people to rebuild more compassionate orientations. Sally works along a spectrum, from states of discomfort or disappointment about the self stemming from issues such as low self esteem or shyness, to coming to terms with major changes in life, to more serious mental health disorders. Weekly sessions are advised but less frequent sessions can be scheduled as things improve.
